Gayle Nelson was born and raised in the small Alaskan village of Yakutat where she experienced a wilderness of beauty amidst struggle few people have seen.

Part of a generation of artists who embody the spirit of their ancestors, the quality and vision of Gayle's work is among the finest in Alaska. Gayle combines the Tlingit design of her people with the finest glass and custom frames her art in wood from indigenous forests.

The freeblown glass Gayle uses in her Tlingit artwork is produced at the Freemont Antique Glass Company in Seattle Washington. The lost art of producing freeblown antique sheet glass dates back several centuries to the Eurpoean continent but today in the United States just one manufacturer offers this prized and extraordinary glass.
